YOUTH SPORTSMAN CAMP
SonRise…Where it all Begins
Attention young guys and girls – the Covenant Ranch, located in Buchanan, TN, just a short drive from beautiful Kentucky Lake near Paris Landing, is now taking registrations for their SonRise Adventures Youth Sportsman Camp. This new and exciting camp is designed just for young men and women that are ready to take a walk on the wild side. The only camp of its kind in the country, SonRise Adventures’ mission is to create an atmosphere where young people can develop and strengthen hunting and outdoor skills, build positive family and peer relationships, and ultimately discover what the hunt is all about as they develop a passion for God, the Creator of all things wild.
Students age 9-18 will have the opportunity to take part in an exciting summer of hunting and outdoor adventure opportunities. From daylight to dark and well into the night, the sounds of wild game calls will bellow across the campus of the Covenant Ranch as game calling skills are developed and put to the test. The 3-D Bowhunter Challenge will stoke a fire within each camper to pursue deer, turkey, coyotes, bobcats, bear, and hogs with the bow and arrow when hunting season rolls around again. A variety of celebrities and experts in the hunting and outdoor industry will stop in at the SonRise Adventures Camp this summer for dinner with the campers, seminars and demonstrations, and one-on-one sessions to ensure that each camper gets the time and attention needed to be more successful in their adventures afield. A variety of world champion game callers will be on hand as they share their experience and words of wisdom on how to be more effective in calling wild game. Archery experts will demonstrate tips and tricks as they encourage campers to shoot straight.
Camp activities include: Tennessee Hunter Education Certification, International Bowhunter Education Certification, Deer, Duck & Goose, Turkey, and Predator Hunting Skills and Tactics, Wild Game Calling School, 3-D Archery Shoot, Skeet Shoot, Marksmanship, Scouting/Treestand Placement, Camping/Survival Skills, Wildlife Management/Food Plots, Map & Compass Skills, Blood Trail Challenge, Campfire Stories, Fishing, Canoeing/Boating, Survivor Challenge, Fun at the Lake, and much much more.
The SonRise Adventures ranch house creates a comfortable family-style atmosphere. While most of the day will be spent outdoors, the ranch house allows the camper to live-it-up as they eat, sleep, and hang-out in the spacious 6600 sq. ft. ranch house. Family style meals with everyone around the table and team competitions in the recreational room ensure that campers build relationships that’ll last a lifetime.
Camps begin June 2005 and run through July. The schedule is as follows:
- June 6-9 Sportsman Camp – Junior Boys Week (ages 9-14)

Encouragement and Support
“I really appreciate what you’re doing for the kids there at the Covenant Ranch. Your work with young people is what it’s all about.” – Tim Grounds – Tim Grounds Championship Calls
“I am deeply grateful for the work being accomplished in the lives of young people through the efforts of the staff and volunteers at the Covenant Ranch. When the character and life-outlook of a young person is strengthened, not only will it benefit their life as an individual but it also affects the quality of those around them. Parents, siblings, their friends and even the communities where they live are benefited by the positive changes that take place in young hearts. Someone once said, “You can count the seeds in an apple, but you can’t count the apples in a seed.” There is no way to fully measure all the good fruit that will be born in the future as a result of the Good Seeds that are sewn into the lives of the young ones through the Covenant Ranch.”
- Steve Chapman – Singer/Songwriter/Author/Bowhunter
“Brodie,
Looks as if you have a packed year ahead. I feel it is the responsibility of every outdoorsperson to help insure the future of hunting by teaching woodsmanship, ethics, and respect. Our hunting heritage is way too precious to let it be taken away or the truth of it be tainted by those who do not understand this honorable way of life.
Best in your success.”
Brenda Valentine
First Lady of Hunting tm
“Your schedule looks great…you are going the extra mile to insure that kids get the right start in hunting.”
Charles Alsheimer – Deer Hunting Expert/Author/Wildlife Photographer

Each camper will receive an assortment of hunting/fishing gear, which may include: camo, caps, game calls, t-shirts, fishing tackle, certificates, and much more.
The cost of camp is $150.00 per child. Sibling discounts are available. For availability of dates, registration forms, and other information, call Brodie Swisher at (731) 642-2099 or email info@sonriseadventures.com
